Introduction

The Fourth Industrial Revolution, simply known as Industry 4.0, is upon us. Industry 4.0 is the natural progression of manufacturing—from the Industrial Revolution (Industry 1.0) of long ago that introduced mechanisation, to the electrification of processes for Industry 2.0, to the adoption of computers and automation for Industry 3.0. Now, Industry 4.0 will be taking what Industry 3.0 started and elevate it using the different digital technologies available today. These technologies include Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Internet of Things and many more.

Every revolution necessitates a paradigm shift, and Industry 4.0 is calling for one at this moment, and manufacturers will need to change with the times if they wish to keep up and thrive in the digital age.
